The Candlelight series offers audiences a multi-sensory live music experience bathed in the glow of hundreds of candles. From timeless composers to rock legends, talented musicians have covered nearly every music genre at spectacular venues worldwide. And, we are delighted to announce that Candlelight concerts in Baltimore are officially underway!
Starting with a tribute to classical music, the Kennedy String Quartet will be taking on legendary composers, including Vivaldi and more. Taking place at Baltimore’s most amazing locations, including the Baltimore Museum of Art and Creative Alliance, these intimate concerts are set to be unforgettable.

Candlelight: Featuring Vivaldi’s Four Seasons & More
Although many of us are familiar with the otherworldy beauty of Vivaldi’s famous violin concerti, hearing them being performed surrounded by hundreds of flickering candles takes the Venetian composer’s masterpiece to new heights. Immerse yourself in the cyclical nature of the seasons while listening to selections from The Four Seasons. What’s more, the Kennedy String Quartet will also perform compositions by Jules Massenet and Astor Piazzolla.
Candlelight: A Tribute to ABBA
Take out your platform shoes and bell-bottom jeans, because Baltimore is getting a disco glow! This season, Candlelight is celebrating the music and legacy of Swedish soupergroup ABBA. They are one of the most popular and successful musical groups of all time, having sold 150 million records worldwide.
From “Dancing Queen” and “Chiquitita” to “Fernando” and “Lay All Your Love On Me”, you can catch some of the band’s most iconic songs at Creative Alliance. The concert will take place at The Patterson, the multi-purpose venue consisting of a theater, two art galleries, media lab and more.

Well, now you can reintroduce yourself to Miss Americana’s iconic tracks at this sensational candlelit performance.
Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer
Even if you’re not a big soundtrack connoisseur, chances are you’ve probably heard Hans Zimmer’s scores. The German-borne composer has scored more than 500 projects in different mediums, including movies and TV. He’s received 20 Grammy nominations, winning four, so really there’s no better artist fit for a moving and intimate tribute.
The new tribute concert this summer includes suites from The Lion King and Dune, for which he won an Academy Award. Kennedy String Quartet will also perform music from The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes and Interstellar, with the Candlelight twist. As the musicians take to the stage, the multi-purpose Meyerhoff Auditorium at the Baltimore Museum of Art will be flooded by a sea of flickering candles, making for an unforgettable evening.

The historic Baltimore Museum of Art
The Baltimore Museum of Art is opening its doors to the Candlelight series. With over 100 years of history, the BMA “was founded on the belief that access to art and ideas is integral to a vibrant and healthy civic life.” In collaboration with the BMA’s striking setting, Candlelight invites Baltimore audiences to uncover new dimensions to their favorite music at the home of 95,000 works of art.
The artsy Creative Alliance
Creative Alliance has brought together artists from different backgrounds since its inception in 1995. The multi-purpose space is all about artistic expression and celebrating culture in Baltimore. With two locations, they’ve hosted more than 150 live performances, film screenings, dance parties and more. Clearly, the arts center is not new to hosting performances and art shows for the community, but this summer, it’s adding two intimate candlelit tribute concerts to its list of shows.

After having enormous success around the world—in cities like London, Manchester, Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris—Candlelight concerts are lighting up Baltimore in all of its glory!
The Candlelight series typically takes place twice each night with two back-to-back 65-minute performances. Doors will open 45 minutes prior to each show.
Note that for the safety of our audience, all of the candlelight will be provided through flameless candles.
